We are always looking for the 'perfect spot' - with a cottage that has it all, in a stunning location, and not too far from fun places to visit. So when we came across 'Breezy Pines' which is walking distance from Lake St. Peter Provincial Park, a 25-minute drive from mighty Algonquin Provincial Park, and has all the features that families love in a cottage, we knew this was a winner.
The pretty community of Lake St. Peter is just to the north of Bancroft and is a tranquil and peaceful spot. As you arrive you'll think you are entering the Lake St. Peter Provincial Park; and in fact you pass through it on the winding road leading to the cottage. Watch out for the huge expanse of sandy beach to your right, as you'll be able to kayak or paddle to the beach from the cottage! The cottage is near to the end of the road with only one property beyond so you won't be impacted by traffic noise during your stay. Check out the outside before venturing indoors and you'll find a gate leading to the lawns, waterfront gazebo, guest cabin and dock. Take a peek at the little Bunkie; a self-contained guest cottage with a small kitchenette, washroom and bedroom - just perfect for a couple to hide away!
The spacious cottage has plenty of room for guests to all find their own space. From the huge family room at one end, to the open plan living, kitchen and dining area at the other, and bedrooms in between, there's a lot of space.
The kitchen is well-equipped for all your cooking creations and you can either eat in at the harvest dining table, or on the deck where you'll find the BBQ and plenty of patio furniture. Then in the evenings there is the choice of indoor entertainment with Satellite TV, plenty of DVDs, Starlink internet, and board games, fooseball, or you might choose to relax in the lakeside screened gazebo. When packing, do not forget to bring the marshmallows! You will want them when you gather everyone around the campfire in the evening for a marshmallow roast or some 'smores!
Guest house (Bunkie) is only available during the summer - guest limit is 8 in the spring and fall time. The Bunkie is more rustic than the main house with it's modern amenities, but the pine interior gives it warmth.
Inside the Bunkie:
Bunkie approximately 10' X 15'
1 bedroom with double
washroom unavailable
Kitchenette with small fridge, small stove and microwave
A short but steep slope leads from the lawn to the waterfront, with a cement walkway.
WATERFRONT: There is a small Beach area here! Good sand and a great safe spot for kids to play. The water is shallow with a gravelly/sandy bottom and it deepens gradually to about 4 feet by the end of the dock. The dock is large enough to dock a boat and with a ladder on the side it gives easy access to swimming. There is a kayak, canoe, paddle boat, and rowboat here!
