You are literally 'on the water' in this boathouse, perfectly prepared for a couple, or a small family that loves privacy and good water frontage. This cottage sits almost at the bottom of hill and you are just a few stairs away from the great shoreline that Papineau Lake is known for. It has been renovated inside and out, but still maintains that cottage charm. The cottage (boathouse) is small, but open concept with kitchen, livingroom and dining area all sharing the same space. The living area also has a propane fireplace for a romantic evening in the fall. The bedroom has a Queen bed in it and just off the bedroom is a nice 3 pc bathroom with a shower. There is a double futon in the living area for 1-2 guests, or they may choose to sleep in the bunkie.
Just steps away from the cottage, there is a bunkie with 2 Single beds in it as well as a chair, dresser and a small table. It is wired with electricity. The bunkie offers some privacy and quiet for those who love to sleep in. The property will allow 5 people overnight (4 adults max.), but is really suited best for 2-4 people with children, or visitors for a few nights.

There is a small deck just outside the door and that is where you will find the propane BBQ and a picnic table. Just a few stairs down you will come to another deck that also provides a good view. (there are about 25 stairs in total from parking to the waterfront) and now you are on a long dock with good swimming all around. The view is amazing and the loons can often be seen from here. There is good cell service here. There are some lifejackets here, but if you need other sizes, you can rent them from our Cottage Rentals office here in Bancroft, just stop by on the way to the cottage!

From the cottage, there are a few stairs down to the dock. The lake is very sandy and swimming is great here. You can step off the dock for shallow swimming and then waterfront gradually gets deeper as you go out. Kids may want water shoes, as there are some pebbles, but it is very sandy for the most part. The dock is good and long. A Canoe and 2 Kayaks are available for you.

LAKE INFORMATION:
Papineau Lake is known for it's naturally sandy bottom and beautiful sand beaches - one of the best public beaches in the Bancroft area is located on the east side of the lake.

AREA INFORMATION:
This cottage is about 30 minutes from the town of Bancroft and the same from Barry's Bay. Both small towns offer good shopping with a variety of unique gift and specialty stores. For basic needs such as milk and bread, the cottage is only 10 minutes from the village of Maynooth where there is a good variety store. In Maynooth, you will also find a liquor store, kindling, propane refills and some very nice antique, art, craft etc. stores as well!
