This cozy 2 bedroom cottage (plus separate bunkie), nicely sleeps a family of up to 8 and is located on beautiful Eels Lake. The view from the deck offers western exposure overlooking an island that is forested crown land. This cottage sits on a nice private lot with deeper swimming off the dock, plus a sandy area where you can walk right in. Located on a quiet part of this big lake with only the occasional boat going by.
This rennovated cottage offers a 4-pc bathroom (with clawfoot tub!), 2 bedrooms (sleeps 5), a woodstove, full kitchen including microwave, and a gas BBQ on the deck. The tap water does come from the lake, so you need to bring drinking water (jug for water cooler). For rainy days there is a TV with a VCR and DVD for movies, and CD stereo. The bunkie is just steps away from the door, and offers sleeping for up to 4 people. Enjoy a meal outdoors on the large wrap around deck where there is a patio table with umbrella, picnic table and a propane BBQ.
Relax at the lakeside - under the shade of the gazebo, and watch the kids swimming. You can jump off the dock for deeper swimming, or to the right of the cottage, there is also a nice small sandy walk-in area, where you can ease your way into the lake. The owner has provided a canoe, 2 kayaks, a paddleboat and a 12' aluminum rowboat for your use. The boat can accommodate a small outboard if you bring your own. There are only 2 life jackets supplied at this cottage. If needed, you can rent more life jackets (to be picked up from our office in Bancroft).
Don't let the name 'Eels Lake' fool you - this lake was named after an Ojibwe chieftan, who claimed this land. Eels Lake is about 10-12 miles in size with many bays and inlets to explore and offers Lake Trout, Walleye, Small and Large Mouth Bass fishing. The water level fluctuates by the end of the summer. All the back country around this lake is crown land, so the wildlife is some of Ontario's best. There are many trails to hike, mountain bike, ATV or simply explore. Book today!
